1 Packaging & Waste
The use and disposal of plastic packaging is a huge concern, with a high amount of single use plastic products being created and thrown away each year- 160million tonnes is produced annually*.
With the majority of plastic waste being non-biodegradable, it is predicted that by 2050, the amount of plastic in the ocean will weigh more than the amount of fish in our seas.
2 Re-usable cups
Although many paper cups are recyclable, it is the difficulty with separating the inner polyethylene that causes a challenge when trying to recycle these products. As a solution towards this problem, many drinks companies are introducing strategies to encourage multiple usage of single plastics.
What we’re doing about it
1 Whilst our existing paper cups are fully 100% recyclable, we understand that the issue comes down to the collection and recycling process. That’s why we’re working with a specialist waste organisation to divert resources from landfill.
As part of our long-term strategy, we’re also looking at alternative packaging options including bio-degradable, compostable cups and plant based materials, to ensure we can come up with the most sustainable, long-term solution. Watch this space.
2 Whilst we we’re working on this, we understand that there is a need for a short-term solution to help reduce the amount of plastic going to landfill and have introduced re-usable cups. To order these please contact email@example.com.
